Day 01: Kathgodam – Pithoragarh (Approx. 200km / 7 hrs) – 1627m
Departing at 07:00 AM from Kathgodam, we embark on a scenic journey to Pithoragarh. En route, we visit sacred sites like Kainchi Dham, Golu Devta Temple, and Jageshwar Dham. Upon arrival in Pithoragarh, enjoy a warm welcome at the hotel followed by an overnight stay.
- Kainchi Dham: A revered Hanuman temple and ashram established by Sri Neem Karoli Baba in the 1960s.
- Golu Devta Temple: Built in the 12th century, this temple honors Golu Devta, known as the God of Justice.
- Jageshwar Dham: A collection of over 100 ancient stone temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, often referred to as the “Valley of Gods.”
- Pithoragarh: Also known as the “Shor Valley,” Pithoragarh is a gateway to various Himalayan trekking routes and the Adi Kailash Om Parvat Yatra.
Day 02: Pithoragarh – Dharchula (Approx. 100km / 3 hrs) – 940m
After an early breakfast, we drive towards Dharchula, a unique town near the Nepal border. Upon arrival, we complete the paperwork for the Inner Line Permit required for the journey. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.
- Dharchula: The town’s name derives from “Dhar” (ridge) and “Chulha” (stove), as its geography resembles a stove surrounded by towering ridges and divided by the Kali River. Explore the local Rung culture, visit the Rung Museum, and relish authentic Himalayan delicacies like dumplings.
Day 03: Dharchula – Nabi Village (Approx. 85km / 6 hrs) – 3048m
After breakfast, we set out on a breathtaking drive to Nabi Village, the base camp for Adi Kailash. The route is adorned with panoramic views of the Himalayas and sacred sites. En route, we pass through several villages, each with its own unique history and significance.
- Malpa: Witness the site of a devastating landslide that occurred in 1999.
- Budhi: Experience the thrill of high-altitude adventure.
- Chialekh: A picturesque village where Inner Line Permits are checked by the Army.
- Garbyang: Known for its sea buckthorn vinegar, a must-buy for visitors.
- Gunji: A crucial point from where the trail diverges towards Om Parvat and the old Kailash Mansarovar route.
Overnight stay in a homestay at Nabi Village, experiencing the essence of Himalayan culture.
Day 04: Om Parvat & Mount Kailash Darshan
An early morning drive takes us to Om Parvat, a miraculous natural formation where snow accumulates in the shape of the sacred “Om” symbol. Here, we meditate and soak in the divine energy of Lord Shiva. Later, we visit Kalapani (subject to permission) before returning to Nabi Village for a cultural evening and a visit to Manakamana Temple.
- Om Parvat: One of the eight sacred Om-symbol formations mentioned in the Skanda Purana, and the only one visible to humans.
- Kalapani Temple: A revered site dedicated to Goddess Kali, offering a glimpse into the divine feminine energy.

Day 05: Nabi Village – Jyolingkong (Approx. 35km / 3 hrs) – 4572m
We begin our journey to the sacred Adi Kailash, Lord Shiva’s ancient abode. The route challenges both body and spirit, offering breathtaking views of the Himalayas. Upon reaching Jyolingkong, we trek (or opt for a pony ride) to Parvati Sarovar, a serene high-altitude lake.
- Pandav Fort, Kuti Village: Believed to have been built by the Pandavas during their exile.
- Adi Kailash: A spiritually enriching site at 6310m, offering an unparalleled connection with Shiva’s divine energy.
- Gauri Kund: A sacred water body near the base of Adi Kailash (visit subject to health conditions).
Post exploration, we return to Nabi Village and spend the evening engaging with the local Rung community.
Day 06: Nabi Village – Dharchula (Approx. 85km / 6 hrs)
After breakfast, we drive back to Dharchula. The evening is free for visiting Nepal and shopping. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 07: Dharchula to Patal Bhuvneshwar via Gangolihat (108 km / 4 hrs)
Post breakfast, proceed towards Patal Bhuvneshwar, enjoying breathtaking views of the Himalayan ranges en route. En route, visit Kalika Mata Mandir in Gangolihat, a revered temple dedicated to Goddess Kali, known for its spiritual significance and powerful aura. After seeking blessings, continue your journey to Patal Bhuvneshwar Cave, a mystical limestone cave believed to be the underground abode of Lord Shiva and other deities. The spiritual importance of this site is immense, as described in ancient scriptures. Check into a resort or hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 08: Patal Bhuvaneshwar – Kathgodam (Approx. 200km / 6 hrs)
After breakfast, we embark on our return journey to Kathgodam, carrying with us unforgettable spiritual experiences and divine memories. The journey concludes with blessings from Lord Shiva, leaving a lasting impact beyond life and death.
