“Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, established in 1975 by Sri Lanka department of wildlife conservation. It was originally established to make protection to the orphaned wild elephants found in the forests of Sri Lanka. It is an orphanage, a nursery for elephants. Presently more than 60 elephants live here including baby elephants. The area is about 10 ha. And bathing and viewing are is on the MahaOya River opposite if the orphanage. Bottled milk feeding done two times in one day for the baby elephant’s and visitors can take part in bottle feeding for the elephants.”
